Sweetwater beach (Glykanera) is between Sfakia and Loutro, there is one boat a day, or you can walk (around 45 minutes in each direction).
The taverna is a splendid meeting place every lunchtime, with octopus salad and good company.  
The dress code is informal (optional).  
There is freshwater under the pebbles, great swimming and a special kind of peace (just watch out for mad englishmen on mobile phones!).
