The Cambridge Folk festival was started in 1964 by Ken Woolard, a local Firefighter, who ran it until his death in 1993 a young Paul Simon was one of the bookings, having just brought out I Am a Rock.
These days it's run by the Cambridge Council, with a staff of 200, it always sells out within a few hours.
